The Building Department is responsible for making sure that all of the town construction and alterations are in accordance with regulations set by the town as well as the state by doing field tests. Because of this the Building Department is responsible for public welfare and safety. They also review architects or engineers plans and issue permits for building as well as collect fees set by the town. The Building Department has many more responsibilities in addition to these.
